ETHICS & STANDARDS

Revenue / Business Model

Research Direct Publisher supports responsible scholarly publishing through transparent editorial standards, peer review, originality, and proper author conduct.

Funding and revenue sources

Research Direct Publisher (RDPub) publishes its journals under the open access model. All articles are free to read, download, share and reuse immediately on publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence, and no subscription, pay-per-view or access fee is charged to readers. The operating costs of the journals are currently met by the publisher.

Article processing charges (APC)

No article processing charges or submission fees are charged for any RDPub journal at present. For the International Journal of Theoretical & Applied Computational Intelligence (IJTACI), no APC applies to manuscripts submitted before 1 January 2028; from 1 January 2028 an article processing charge of US$250 will apply to articles accepted for publication in IJTACI. The charge is payable only after a manuscript has been accepted; no fee is charged for submission, peer review or rejected manuscripts. The APC covers editorial management, production, DOI registration, online hosting and long-term digital preservation. The Journal of Digital Intelligence and Knowledge Discovery (JDIKD) does not charge any article processing or submission fees.

Waivers and discounts

RDPub is committed to ensuring that authors can publish regardless of their ability to pay. Waivers and discounts for the IJTACI APC will be available to authors from low-income and lower-middle-income economies, based on the Research4Life country eligibility groups, and to authors who can demonstrate financial hardship. Waiver requests are handled by the publisher after acceptance and are never shared with the editors or reviewers.

Editorial independence

Financial considerations, including the ability or willingness of an author to pay an APC or to apply for a waiver, play no role in editorial decisions, peer review, manuscript acceptance or publication. Editorial decisions are made solely by the journal Editor-in-Chief and editorial board on the basis of the scientific quality and relevance of the work.

Other revenue

RDPub does not currently accept advertising, sponsorship or reprint income. Optional professional editing or language services may be offered; they are entirely separate from the editorial process, are never required for submission or publication, and do not influence peer review or acceptance. Any change to the charges above, including the introduction of an APC for another journal, will be announced on this website and on the journal website in advance and will not apply to manuscripts that were already submitted.
